Giving these guys some love sounds like a pretty good plan to me, check them out , give them a listen.

Tell the readers a bit about yourselves.

“Hey Cheers for giving us your time. I’m Dean and we are right out of the starting blocks with this new project ‘Pretty Good Plan’ so we’re all bursting with enthusiasm for what’s to come. All of us currently involved have come from musical backgrounds and other projects so there is a great range of influence from different genres."

"Me and Paul both still play with Gloucester Rock band Nukchorris who are Exposure Music Award Winners and previously played in Kerrang voted ‘best unsigned band’ Murdoc."

"Victoria joined us from the band Honey Riders who play a wide range of cover songs and also lends her hand to teaching music and art when she’s not entertaining."

"Nic was most previously playing in the grunge band ‘The Vigil’ and brings with him a wealth of musical knowledge. Nic used to own and manage Match factory Studios and rehearsal space in Gloucester so knows his way around a mixing desk."

What do you all do in the band?

"I take vocals and rhythm guitar, Vic also does vocals and keys, Nic plays the bass and Paul plays drums/percussion"

What kind of music do you guys play?

"We play a mix of Country, Rock and Blues styles that gel to create our own sound"

Any new music on the way?

"Ah yeah loads, we’ve got a big chunk of material that we are working on right now with a view to hitting the studio to lay down our debut EP later this year. Right now we are working with a new lead guitarist so hoping that everything works out well and the sound gels so we can publicly announce the addition and get back to the live scene."

I'm looking forward to it! So what musicians inspired you to start making music?

"I personally grew up listening to rock bands like ACDC and Aerosmith so they are at the heart of why I play guitar but the jump into country only came very recently. It has been like opening a door into a whole new world of music I didn’t realise existed. The reach and crossover is endless and as a genre it is probably the biggest it has ever been."

Is there any music you listened to as a kid you still listen to now?

"All of it!"

"Victoria is still a big fan of Alison Krauss, Sinead O’Conner, Pink Floyd, R.E.M and Jeff Buckley. I still listen to most of the classic rock albums I was into when younger and then the more pop punk era, Aerosmith, Metallica, ACDC, Bad Religion, Offspring. So much stuff. I don’t think you ever really stop liking or grow out of a band you were heavily into."

Top 5 albums?

"I honestly think I would struggle to narrow myself down to a top 50. Too much stuff is not comparable. The album Sublime by the band of the same name is ludicrously good. I’ve even got it tattooed across my shoulders, but to compare this with a masterpiece from the likes of say Brad Paisley, or Guns N Roses ‘Appetite for Destruction for instance is impossible. Rage Against the Machine and even dare I say the debut album from Linken Park was seriously impressive at the time."

"I think we’ll have to leave that one here or this interview will run and run :)"

It may be best to leave it at that then , What is the favourite show you guys have ever played?

"The last one. Always the last one. You are only as good as your last performance so we treat every show like we are headlining an arena. Admittedly not always easy in the corner of a village pub but you work with what you have. Ultimately the crowd make a show. If you are playing to room full of people getting off on what you do how can you not be buzzing off the back of it."

What about the worst show you’ve ever played?

"Empty festivals. It’s clearly a lot harder than it looks to put on a festival of any size and get the crowds as we’ve rocked up to our fair share of empty fields and played a set to a couple of people having a picnic in the rain."

Favourite gig you’ve been to?

"Tom Jones at Kingsholm! It was the first time I think Gloucester Rugby ground had put anything on to this scale and it just seemed immense to walk into a stadium type show here in Gloucester. Plus that man can boom his voice after all these years. Seriously! Tom Jones still kills it haha."

I agree, Tom has some lungs on him. What would you say is the favourite song you guys have made?

"Right now I think we’re enjoying playing a track called ‘Old Dog’ the most. A simply bluesy honky tonk number about a scraggy dog but it’s a great fun upbeat dancing track."

Any gigs coming up?

"We’ve been lucky to already receive a wealth of offers and slots. If everything goes as planned with our guitarist then we should be able to announce a run of dates then."

If you had to describe your music to someone who had never heard you before, how would you describe it?

"Country rock with a whiskey Chaser"

Thanks for chatting to us today, anything else you want to say to the readers?

"No worries, it’s been great. If anyone wants to hit up our new Facebook page www.facebook.com/prettygoodplanmusic and give us a like and a share we’d be loving that. Thanks again!"
