Today we have with us at Kegger a brilliant band by the name KidBrother, hailing from London, England. They have a new single coming out , but before it drops get to know them a bit better, and check out their other songs , they're genuinely fantastic. Anyway, back to the interview.

Tell the readers a bit about yourselves! Hey there readers, we’re KidBrother from a collection of small towns in the UK that settled and formed in London. Comprised of: Jamie Carrington//Vocals (24) Ffin Colley//Bass//Vocals (22) Dan Stocks//Guitar (24) Saul Richards-Ward//Guitar (25) James Mortimer//Drums//Vocals (306) how did you guys all meet?

Myself (Ffin), Jamie and Dan are all from a tiny rock in the middle of the Irish sea called the Isle of Man and we’ve been playing together for years. We met the other reprobates; James and Saul through the playing alongside each other in previous bands, a mutual love for beer and aggressively moving out heads back and forth. What kind of music do you play?

We play very loud, energetic and sometimes sad music that’s probably best labelled as ‘Alternative’ (whatever that means) Any new music on the way?

We have a brand new single coming out on 24.03.17 called ‘A Draught I Want’ on Say Something Records and loads of exciting plans for this coming summer. What musicians inspired you to start making music?

Me and my dad used to listen to AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix at full volume in the car when I was a kid, definitely started me off down the Rock route. Since then Thom Yorke and Jordan Dreyer have had a great influence on our lyric writing and bands like Alexisonfire, Brand New and Gallows have had their say on how we compose our songs (not literally, I think if I met any of those bands I would pass out) Is there any music you listened to as a kid you still listen to now?

Definitely, I had ‘By The Way’ and ‘Californication’ by RHCP on repeat when I was younger I still can’t turn them off. Also Will Smith’s ‘Big Willie Style’ is still one of the best records to have ever been released. Top 5 albums?

Gallows – Orchestra of Wolves Pinegrove – Cardinal La Dispute - Wildlife Basement – Colourmeinkindness Pianos Become The Teeth – Keep You (Lack Long After is also very very sick) Do you play gigs?

We do play gigs! We circulate the London circuit as best we can but you can find all of our upcoming shows on our Facebook/Bandsintown - /KidBrotherUK What is the favourite track you guys have made?

It’s hard to pick, we’ve recorded a lot of material that will be released this coming year and I’m really proud of all of them! ‘A Draught I Want’ is definitely up there though. It is very punchy like a big old punch to ears but in a nice way. Favourite gig you’ve been to?

I think seeing La Dispute and Touché Amoré at Scala was a real winner. The sound and vibe were fantastic. How did you come up with the name KidBrother?

Our old drummer came up with it! (Thank you Sam!) It comes from having to look after each other when we first moved over to London, like you would your kid brother. We also have a back-up name (also a product of Sam’s genius) ‘The Kool Birds’ so in case of suing we don’t have to throw out all the merch we have with KB on it. If you had to describe your music to someone who had never heard you before, how would you describe it?

I’d say that our music is very honest lyrically, sometimes aggressive, sometimes soothing musically and those two elements are always clear and cohesive with each other. Is there somewhere the readers can listen to you?

Our debut single ‘Angst’ is available on Bandcamp and YouTube. We will be releasing new music through similar mediums in future but it will all be accessible via our social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram - KidBrotherUK How did you first start making music? was it a conscious thing or did you just start playing around one day and think “wow this is fun i’m gonna do this more often”?

Personally it started with just messing around on my dad’s acoustic and him teaching me about lyric content and meaning. After giving it a shot I found it cathartic in a way I’d never experienced before and it’s never really been replicated by anything else. When did you first start out as a band?

We started KidBrother at the end of 2014, this line up has been going since the end of 2015. Thanks for chatting to us today, anything else you want to say to the readers?

Thank you for having us and thank you readers for doing a read! New single 24.03.17 it would mean the world if you check it out. Hopefully see you all at a show for a kiss, cuddle and some aggressive head bobbing
